A Community of Practice (CoP), or “Action Group” in AfriAlliance, are groups of volunteer participants that have a continued interaction around a shared objective. CoPs provide an environment (face-to-face or online) in which professionals can share their practice experiences and knowledge, develop and discuss areas of interests and build a sense of community.

AfriAlliance launched 10 Action Groups, the first set of 5 in 2016 and the second set of 5 in 2019, to bring together African and European peers with relevant knowledge and expertise to work jointly towards implementable solutions. The objective of these Action Groups is to reduce knowledge fragmentation in water and climate actions within Africa and between Africa and the European Union by bringing together and facilitating uptake of relevant knowledge, expertise and solutions.
