EARLY WARNING: Invitation to create AfriAlliance Action Groups

news

As AfriAlliance investigates the reasons for knowledge fragmentation across Africa and between Africa and the EU, important knowledge co-creation aspects are emphasised. The successful interaction among relevant stakeholders from both Africa and Europe, in water management is of principal importance when trying to generate, increase and exchange knowledge and innovation that addresses the demands for solutions that have noticeable and high impact.

The first set of 5 AfriAlliance Action Groups has gone a long way to bridge the knowledge fragmentation gap. However, the AfriAlliance project will now look to expand and build on this first set by launching a call for a second set of 5 AfriAlliance Action Groups. The Action Groups will seek to reduce fragmentation in water and climate actions within Africa and between Africa and the European Union by bringing together relevant knowledge, expertise and solutions. We invite you to create an Action Group that will allow you to demonstrate your innovative idea, undertake pilot activities, share knowledge between stakeholders and networks at all scales, so as to effectively identify and address water and climate vulnerabilities.

The activities of the Action Group will focus on one issue from within the following settings:

  • Human development and capacity building needs in water and climate actions
  • Institutional capacity building needs
  • Rural and agricultural settings
  • Urban, industrial and city settings
  • Coastal areas
  • Transversal issues

Terms of Reference will be published together with the official launch of the application process which will include the main themes and sub-themes, as well as detailing what is expected of an Action Group, the application process, the eligibility criteria and the small amount of seed funding that will be available.

Important dates

  • Opening of the application process: March 2018
  • Closing date for applications: 30th April 2018
  • Official Launch of the second set of 5 Action Groups: 30th of June 2018

The AfriAlliance website will also host a platform where you can advertise your Action Group idea or connect with other stakeholders to create an Action Group. Watch this space for further announcements.

  2. I am grateful for this opportunity to be invited to apply, especially at this crucial transitional period in our country where we have a new government succeeding a 37 year old one. I would not mind to be in any group of the listed ones BUT coming from a rural back of a less priveleged family I would go for the “Rural and agricultural settings” and/or may be “transversal issues” group, maybe. I am quite eager to be part of the change that I would want to see for the future generation in my country Zimbabwe.
