Water JPI workshop on RDI cooperation development for tackling global water challenges

Participants included representatives from ARIMNet2, ERANETMED, PRIMA and LEAP-Agri. AfriAlliance was represented by Dr. Mamohloding Tlhagale from WRC. The workshop was opened by Sana Zebakh, Vice-Director of the Institut Agronomique et Veterinaire Hassan II, and Maurice Heral, Chair of WaterJPI from ANR. WaterJPI aims to harmonise and mobilise National and Regional (European and non-European) RDI Programmes through alignment of water research agendas and programmes at European and international level.

During round table group discussions, the participants shared the status (priorities, partners, activities etc.) of the projects/networks, challenges and further discussed how they could cooperate to minimise duplication, have more reach, visibility, and impact in Africa and Europe. Several challenges and needs were identified, such as lack of an open data platform and the need for a central point for partner-matching activities.
