Budapest Water Summit 2019

Building on the success of the Budapest Water Summits 2013 and 2016, Hungary will host the Summit for the third time in 2019. The event aims to expose the urgency of tackling the challenges of the emerging water crises, related to the issues of abundant, scarce and polluted waters, including their social, economic, environmental and political consequences. Moreover, the Summit will provide a platform for political decision-makers, representatives of the business and finance sectors, as well as the academic community, to discuss the way ahead from understanding challenges to evaluating results attained and ways of getting closer to a water-secure world. A Water Expo will accompany the main policy discussions of the Summit.

The main events of the Budapest Water Summit 2019 are the Plenary Sessions with high-level speakers discussing the challenges of the emerging water crises – issues concerning abundant, scarce and polluted waters – and their social, economic, environmental and political consequences.

The topics are discussed in the framework of ten thematic sessions. Each thematic session will be introduced by two keynote speeches that will be followed by moderated Davos-style discussions.

The Budapest Water Summit 2019’s Inauguration Session will take place at 9:30 am on 15 October at Millenáris Park – National Dance Theatre. According to our plans, the Budapest Water Summit 2019 will close its session at 16:30 pm on 17 October.

During the three-day event, a Water Expo will also be held again to provide opportunity for Hungarian companies, institutions and organisations active in the water sector to present their products and services to the participants of the Summit. The Expo is intended to focus on sustainable, innovative, environment–friendly solutions in the field of drinking water production, water treatment, water supply and water resources management.

Please find here the detailed preliminary programme of the Plenary Sessions.
