Geo Week 2020

Geo Week 2020

  • Online Event
  • Geodata
  • Earth Observation

Focused on the key priorities of boosting the digital economy, promoting sustainable development, supporting national Earth observation initiatives and highlighting approaches to open data, this week-long series of online events will engage leaders from across the GEO community to share insights, lessons and advance policies and programmes that impact our planet.

GEO Week will feature the 53rd Executive Committee with an invitation extended to all GEO Member Principals to attend on 4 November. Designed to ensure the continuation of GEO Business in absence of a Plenary in 2020, these sessions will seek Member wide consultation and engagement with GEO leadership on important topics for the forthcoming year.

The Industry Track will exhibit Earth observation solutions and services from across the world. A dedicated Networking Platform will bring together development practitioners, governments and the private sector with a special focus on supporting Small and Medium Micro- sized Enterprises (SMMEs) to advance their access to knowledge, markets and partners. With planned virtual talks, match making between business to business and business to government (B2B and B2G) in virtual rooms, the Space Tech Challenge competition announcement and giveaways organized in collaboration with the South African National Space Agency (SANSA), ZA Space and the South African Department of Science and Innovation, this online event aims to build momentum for an in-person Industry Track in Port Elizabeth, South Africa next year.

 This week will also feature:

  • The GEO Awards Ceremony
  • A global fundraising campaign kick-off
  • An opportunity to discover GEO Member initiatives
  • Live panel discussions
  • And more…

Sessions will take place across multiple time zones to promote live participation from around the globe. Several sessions will be pre-recorded and will be made available online through a variety of streaming platforms and available on the GEO website.
