Webinar: Building Sustainable and Resilient Cities

  • Webinar
  • Resilient Cities
  • Sustianable Cities

Africa is one of the fastest urbanising continents - the global share of African urban residents is projected to grow from 11.3 percent in 2010 to 20.2 percent by 2050. In a world increasingly affected by climate change, this rapid urbanisation poses a range of threats - this process needs to be considered alongside the concepts of sustainability and resilience.

Concentrating resources, capacity and knowledge, urban areas provide significant opportunities for future sustainability. This webinar from SOAS will discuss processes to enhance sustainability and resilience in cities, based on elements of their new Masters module on Urban Sustainability and our own research interests. The webinar will also provide a short overview of CeDEP distance learning Master's programmes in Climate Change and Development, and Sustainable Development.
