Blog: AfriAlliance makes its presence felt at WIE2019
Water Innovation Europe 2019 ‘Water meets Energy-Energy meets Water’ successfully concluded on the 13th of June in Brussels with about 230 participants present from the water & energy sector. The annual WIE conference has been the traditional summer meeting spot for water professionals to meet, exchange and go away with new ideas, insights and stronger relationships, and this 2019 edition was no exception.
The pre-conference day of the conference featured the Water Europe Working Group meetings and the Water Innovation Awards ceremony, bearing important surprises for the attendees, while the main conference day was dedicated to the four panel sessions addressing the key issues of the Water-Energy nexus, with keynote speeches and dynamic discussions. The WIE2019 exhibition area was the spot for information sharing and networking, with representatives from various initiatives and projects interacting lively with participants.
AfriAlliance project was present at the conference, represented by IHE Delft institute, WE&B and Water Europe, the host organization of the conference. Having a dedicated spot at the WIE2019 exhibition corner, the three project’s representatives: Gaetano Casale (IHE Delft Institute), Water Europe (Maria Mirachtsi) and David Smith (WE&B) took the time to interact with participants and inform them about the AfriAlliance current activities. Several interested attendees had the opportunity to take with them one of the project’s policy briefs and social Innovation factsheets.
