Call for Consultants: Mining experts in Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) is looking for two short-term consultants to work on our New Tech, New Deal project.
The first opportunity, located in or around Burkina Faso, will involve the consultant conducting an in-country consultation for a 15-18 page case study, which looks at the various types of technologies being adopted in the mining sector and their likely implications for resource-rich countries, including on labour, skills, and local economic development. The in-country consultation will consider how future technologies and digitization will affect the mining sector in Burkina Faso. The consultant will pay particular attention to the gender dimension throughout their work. The consulting expert will provide approximately 15 ays equivalent of work starting on August 15, 2020 and ending September 30, 2020. The application deadline is July 22, 2020. The second opportunity, located in or around the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will involve the consultant conducting an in-country consultation for a 10-15 page case study, which looks at the various types of technologies being adopted in the mining sector, and their likely implications for resource-rich countries, including on labour, skills, and local economic development. However, this in-country consultation will consider how future technologies and digitization will affect the mining sector in DR Congo, and in particular how it can contribute to the development of the market for local procurement. The consulting expert will provide approximately 15 days equivalent of work starting on August 15, 2020 and ending September 30, 2020. The application deadline is July 22, 2020.
