TU Delft Global Drinking Water Best Paper Award 2019
On the occasion of International World Water Day 2019, the TU Delft | Global Drinking Water programme launches the 1st edition of the Best Paper Award. It is an annual recognition to researchers who contribute to SDG 6.1: achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all.
The TU Delft Global Drinking Water Best Paper Award is a reward for the best paper published on innovative drinking water technologies which are directly linked to safe drinking water supply in the Global South. With the award, the Global Drinking Water programme aims to stimulate research on this topic. The first author of the winning publication will be granted 2.000 euro. Being granted this award is above all an opportunity to show the world the relevance of your work.
For the 2019 TU Delft Global Drinking Water Best Paper Award we now request paper submissions that align with the below-mentioned eligibility criteria. Submission deadline is June 5, 2019, 11:59 PM.

The submitted papers will then be evaluated by a review committee. We are pleased to announce the following committee members:
- Dick Bouman (fund manager VIA Water at Aqua for All)
- Jan Heeger (WASH advisor at Netherlands Red Cross)
- Luuk Rietveld (professor of Drinking Water & Urban Water Cycle Technology at TU Delft)
- Kala Vairavamoorthy (executive director of the International Water Association)
Scientific publications will be accepted based on the following criteria:
- Publication date: June 2014 onwards
- Peer reviewed journal is a must, open access paper is a plus
- (Co-)authors from the Global South are a plus
- In line with the core values of the Global Drinking Water programme;
- Production of safe drinking water
- Based or applicable in the Global South
- Aims at community based solutions
- Focuses on the removal of chemical threats: arsenic, fluoride, heavy metals, pesticides & other micro-pollutants, etc. and/or removal of biological threats: pathogens (viruses, bacteria, protozoa), antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes, etc.
