Publication: Analysing the value of environmental citizen-generated data: Complementarity and cost per observation

A key question in citizen science is: what is the value of environmental citizen-generated data? In this recent paper "Analysing the value of environmental citizen-generated data: Complementarity and cost per observation", the authors provide a methodology to calcluate the exact value of this data. 

The research found that:

• Citizen observations filled 0–40% of the data gaps, at 37 to 300 Eur per observation.

• Co-designing Citizen Science projects exclusively aimed at data collection might not be worthwhile
