Publication: Frequently Asked Questions on the 1992 Water Convention

UNECE have recently developed the new publication “Frequently Asked Questions on the 1992 Water Convention” devoted to the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (also known as Helsinki Convention or UNECE Water Convention).

The publication is available in English and Russian (at https://www.unece.org/index.php?id=55164), with the other language versions (French, Spanish, Arabic) to follow.

The publication explains the obligations under the 1992 Water Convention and the way in which its institutional platform works, as well as the global opening of the Convention. It addresses the contribution of the Water Convention to the achievement of the SDGs. It also explains the relationship between the 1992 Water Convention and the 1997 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Non-navigational Uses of International Watercourses.
