VIA Water Programme ends after 5 years
After supporting innovative water solutions in Africa from 2014-2019, the VIA Water Programme has now come to an end. The programme was hugely influential, supporting 62 innovations in 8 African counties, with 52% of the projects reaching a business and/or dissemination stage and can now be considered successful. In 16 of these innovations, women held a leading position. The programme offered support to innovators in a range of areas, such as webinars, trainings and VIA Water Cafés to name a few. You can find out more about the work of VIA Water here: www.viawater.nl.
As well as having an MOU with AfriAlliance, VIA Water took part in many shared activities, including the 'Spatial Delights' session at Stockholm Water Week 2018. These common activities helped bring the expertise of the programmes together and provide support for innovators and solutions providers.
However, the expertise behind the programme is still available having been integrated into the ‘Making Water Count’ programme of Aqua for All, which aims to provide funding to accelerate and scale up innovative water-related ideas or solutions. The programme particularly focuses on innovations and solutions relating to drinking water, sanitation and IWRM Find out more about this programme here: https://aquaforall.org/.
