Blog: AfriAlliance MOOC – Calls for Action 2
The first AfriAlliance MOOC, “Water and Climate Change in Africa”, aimed at teaching participants to (1) define climate change implications for water resources and uses in Africa, (2) review case studies of climate change implications in different African regions and (3) discuss climate change adaptation policies with other MOOC participants.
In module 4, “Coping with water challenges related to climate change in Africa: is it time for action?”, the participants had to develop a Call for Action on climate change that addressed one of the challenges they had studied in the previous modules and ideally focused on their own region. In order to do so, it was suggested to rely on material developed by AfriAlliance by exploring the AfriAlliance project website.
Last week, we already featured five calls for action that were submitted by the participants. Having received a lot of great submissions, we share five additional ones here:
- Call to Action on Climate Change and Agricultural water in Ethiopia by Abebe Mengistu Legass
- Call for Action to ensure sustainable and efficient use of irrigation water in Africa by Raphael Mubanga
- Call for Action for adaptation of the agricultural sector to climate change in Botswana by Gift Sibanda
- Call for Action for enough media coverage of climate change in Namibian media by Maria Shimhanda
- Mayors, Imagine Bamako clean during flood events? Emergency call for action by Fatim Helene Traore
