Scaling Local and Community-Based Adaptation
The Global Commission on Adaptation have published a new paper, titled: Scaling Local and Community-Based Adaptation. This paper examines the local and community-based nature of climate change adaptation, and the ways in which local knowledge can be woven in to climate change solutions.
However, while local and community-based programmes have achieved success in the past, and are often acknowledged to be of importance in adaptation to climate change, there remains a lack of support for these projects and they are generally not carried out at scale. This paper investigates this dichotomy and the move from top-down climate adaptation to a more inclusive, community focused approach.
